K and I visited a manatee rescue and research centre in the Amazon. This baby was learning to eat solids. They feed on water hyacinths, which are more than abundant in the tributaries around Iquitos! Our boat got stuck when approaching the lodge due to the sheer amount of vegetation floating downstream at the end of the wet season.
K and I fed this little 'un. His mouth is rough and tickly, he grabs the food with his upper lip like a horse would.
awww.
