#2 of 2014: Pride

Colour, noise, laughter...and plasters to anticipate the blisters. Before we knew it the parade had begun, and the Bangshees drummers were out in full force (no pun intended). Newcastle was buzzing and so was I. There's no better feeling than celebrating freedom in your favourite city, surrounded by inspirational people and dear friends.
We were blessed with dry weather for the march - though the hill in Exhibition Park is a killer when you've been drumming non-stop for an hour already. But Shelley pulled us through with oodles of enthusiasm and energy. The parade was rained on (quite literally) by the time our drumming gig was over, so we did what any decent drumming band would do. We migrated to the pub. Not that the afternoon got hazy, but I shall skip to the evening, where a contingent of the Bangshees are to be found in Cosy Joe's Karaoke bar... insert wiggly reminiscent lines... Oh my days. Could NOT have had a more enjoyable last day in the toon. It felt brilliant. I may or may not have finally given in to tears on Gemma's shoulder by the end of 120 minutes of karaoke! (It wasn't the singing! promise!)We had to be dragged out of the booth in the end. 3 cheers for Pride 2014. :)
